Check out our free promotion section - you'll find tons of good ideas. Click

Keeping your site user friendly 1. Keep your navigation consistent. 2. Make it easy to 'bookmark' your site. A free script can be found here. 3. Use colors that are easy to read - black text on a white background is the easiest to read. 4. Make your text fun to read. Use headings, paragraphs, and bullets. 5. Give your readers your contact information and a link to order something on ALL of your pages. 6. Make a link back to your home page on each of your pages.
7. Include alt tags for your images. Not only will it help some with your SEO, but it will also make it easier for folks who turn the images off. 8. Make sure to proof all of your forms, pages and links.
9. Have a friend or associate do the same. If anything isn't crystal clear, then make it so.
10. Make sure you have a privacy, order, refund, and shipping policy. You may also want to build a FAQ page. Some tips on writing a privacy policy can be found here.

Website Navigation - There are tons of ways you can build your website navigation.

Java Scripts You can find hundreds of free ones here. CSS Tutorials can be found here.

DHTML Check here Many more options can be found by searching in your favorite search engine. Some general information on navigation can be found below. Web site navigation guide

Believe it or not it really isn't that hard to give your site a new look. The 'hard' part is done - your content. Just remember to keep the following in mind.

Make sure to use the same names of the page - ie mypage.htm, if you forget to do this then your bookmarks that folks have made and your search engine positioning will be lost.

You can change the look of your site by finding a free template that you like from the link in todays freebie section - make your navigation links, then one by one change your pages till they're all done.

This week we're going to be talking about how to make your site sticky. We all know - or you should know by now that people aren't going to buy the first time they come and visit your site. So we want to make them want to come back and visit again.

July 19 - Five things to make your site stickier.

1. Have a page that you change frequently with tips - help etc., that are related to your niche.
2. Have a contest.
3. Hold a scavenger hunt.
4. Add some things that they can actually do on your site - games, guest books, etc.
5. Add things that are useful for them - free web email, calendars, etc.

July 18 - Building a useful forum will help make your site stick, for more reasons than I can put in this small space. To build a successful forum you need to:
1. Build traffic to it - traffic = posts, which are the live blood of any good forum.
2. Make sure to police it - delete any ads or post that don't really belong.
3. Answer questions - post questions and thoughts... after all it is your forum.
4. More information on starting a message board can be found by clicking here.

July 17 - Building a newsletter part 2 Now that you have an ezine - how do you get the word out - 1. Make sure you have an ezine signup box on every page of your site. 2. Send an announcement to your current customers inviting them to join. 3. Add your ezine to the list of ezine directory sites you'll find on this page - http://www.blitzpromotions.com/100ways-3.htm

July 16 -Building a newsletter Part 1 - Some questions you need to ask yourself in the planning stages include - 1. How often to send it. 2. The day you're going to send it. 3. July 8 - This week we're going to be talking about getting the most out of your Palm / Handheld - you know you really can do more than use it as an expensive to do list.

The first thing to do if you are in the market for one is to choose which type of hand held that you want.

An excellent article on choosing a hand held can be found here -

http://www.digital-doc.com/why.html

July 3 - A Design Tip - Did you know that you can assign a subject and body text in your mailto tags. Here is how to do it.

Please note the tags below are listed without their html - if you have trouble getting them to work, send us a note.

To code the mailto: with a subject -
mailto:name@domain.com?Subject=Your_Subj

Make sure not to use spaces.

mailto:name@domain.com?Subject=yoursubj
&Body=Bodygoeshere

This puts yoursubj in the suject and Bodygoeshere in the body of the email.

June 20 - Step 2-
Now take the list that you made yesterday and email the list of blog owners - asking them for a blog link. Make sure that when you email them, personalize the letter as much as possible.

June 19 - Step 1-
The first step is to get some blog links with other bloggers. Today we're going to work on compiling the list. Most of the blog software sites have an index for their bloggers. Use this list to find 5-10 bloggers that talk about the same things you do. Tomorrow we'll talk about Step 2.

June 18 - Some folks wanted an alternative for an easier blog - without further ado - here's a nice article to get you started - click here.

June 17 - Make sure that you are reading our Blitz Ezine During the Summer. The latest issue can be found by clicking here.

June 7 - 10 -This weekend we'll be showing you in detail how to setup your blog - click here for the link.
Our first attempt at blogging can be viewed here.

June 6, 2002 - The package that we chose to Blog with is Movable Type - the one drawback with it is that you have to install it on your host server... but no fears, we'll be detailing exactly how to do it. Since we only have five minutes, the first thing to do is download the package - which you can do by clicking here for the page.

Fill out the form, read the agreement, then click download.

You'll then get a popup box asking do we want to download and we do want to save this file to disk. Then click OK. We'll save the .tar file to our Desktop that way we won't loose it. Click save - it's a small file so by the time you read this, it should be downloaded. Tomorrow we'll start the installation process.

June 5, 2002 - In preparation for one of our summer trips we're going to work on building a webblog. This will allow us to change / update our site while we are on the road next week, without having to worry about an FTP. The first step is choosing which webblog that we want to use.

You can find a really nice review of four bloggers by clicking here.

Tomorrow we'll tell you our choice and get ready to put it to work.

June 4, 2002 - Now that you have the list of your five best customers. Takes some time and write them a personal note, thanking them for being your customer, ask them if there is anyway that you can serve their needs and offer them a discount on a product you know they like. Mail this letter using the post office.

June 3, 2002 - Today think about your five best customers. That's all you have to do, make a list of the five folks or companies that spent the most money with you during the past year... tomorrow we'll tell you what to do with the list.

Taking your biz on the Road Archives

--> Help for those without a ton of cash. Need a lap top for the road but don't want to spend a fortune, check out the buying tips below. Tips - part 1 click here Tip 2 - Check out the Sunday paper. Tip 3 - Put an ad in the Sunday paper - explain what you're looking for and what you're willing to pay.The main reason I don't recommend using auctions for computers is that you don't get to test it. Finding a laptop locally will help you do that.

-->A few things to make your life easier, while on the road. Keep your bookmarks with you no matter where you're at. Click here. You can access any email account from web box. One easy way to update your page is by using a blog like we mentioned earlier.

--> A nice article about taking your family on the road with you - you can check it out by clicking here.

--> During my search for some solutions, I stumbled on an extremely useful site - you'll find all kinds of hints etc. Including - outfitting a mobile office, a nice forum, how to connect and more.

--> One of the tools that you will need to perform well on any type of trip is a laptop. Many folks think that these have to be really expensive, but guess what - you don't really need the latest whiz bang technology to be able to work on the road. So how can you find a cheap lap top?

1. Check your local classifieds - especially on Sunday.
2. Try an auction site - ebay or Yahoo auctions.
3. Ask around - many people may have an old laptop that is gathering dust.
4. Be proactive and put a classified in your local paper - looking for -

Good luck in your hunt.

---> Now that you have some idea of the things you will need to take on the road - pretend for a couple of days that you are on the road. Use only the things on your list, any new things that you really need make sure to add those to your list.

Make a note as well of all the contact information that you use on a regular basis and make sure to include this in your vacation rolodex.

Week of June 3 - In order to take your business on the road, the first thing you need to do is take an inventory on what you might need. One of the best ways that I've found to do this is take a week and pretend that you're on vacation. Make notes of everything (program, file, software) that you consistently use on a regular basis.

Of course if you take everything you use with you, then you won't have any room for your luggage, but you will begin to get an idea of things that you must have.

Next week we'll start working on the list - also pay attention to the Marketing tips as we'll be detailing how to set up your weblog.

June 20 - Instead of taking a huge trip - why not take a few weekend trips. These trips can be to a state park, amusement park, or just driving around till you find something that you want to see.

Week of June 3 - When you're checking / making reservations for your trip, make sure to take a close look and write down the prices - from the internet.

Then when you're making reservations and they give you a higher rate - remind them that on the net their rate is xxx - this saved me about $50.00 on the trip we're making next week.
