I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good
therefore that I can do, or any kindness or ablities
that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it
now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall
not pass this way again.

Site. +++++++++++++++++
-Dissecting
your competition
Remember
those five competitors you listed in the last lesson.
It's time to take a closer look at them.
Step
1 - Search for the appropriate keyword in the search
engine that you want to rank well in. Note: this does
not work for directories. Example - Search Google for
your keyword.
Step
2 - Click on the website that has the first position.
Step
3 - View the source for the page - where, when and how
many times was the keyword mentioned in the title.
Step
4 - How many, where and when was the keyword mentioned
in the keywords/Descriptions.
Step
5 - Were the keywords mentioned in a comment tag?
Step
6 - Looking at the page were any of the keywords bold
or larger than normal? If so, where?
Step 7 - How many links does the site have from other
sites? http://www.linkpopularity.com/
Step
8- What was the word count for the page. http://www.keywordcount.com/
Step
9 - What was the keyword percentage. http://www.keyworddensity.com
Step 10 - Where on the page were instances of the keyword.
Now
use the same steps, compare your site and adjust as
needed. If you are behind in your link popularity, next
issue we'll be sending you some notes on how to increase
that.
Remember
DO NOT copy their tags. After you check out some
of your competition you will note that they have gaps
in some things they should do… see Tweaking your tags
below.
-Tweaking
your tags
This
next section comes from our web guide - http://www.webpageplanner.com
-Get
your specific keywords ready for a page. Rank them from
one to ten in order of importance with #1 being the
most important.
-Make
sure your number 1 keyword is the FIRST word of the
title of the page. Insert keyword two and three as well.
Keep title to around seven words.
-If
the page is not an index page make sure that the top
keyword for the page is the name of the page.
-Make
sure that your first keyword is the first word on the
page - ie. Part of a header.
-The
first 25 words of the page should contain your top three
keywords at least once.
-The
last 25 words of the page should contain your top three
keywords at least once.
-The links on your page should contain your keywords
if at all possible. -Insert the meta tags as per the
instructions in the Web Page Planner.
-Insert
'alt' tags for your images as applicable with your keywords.
-Make
sure the page has a keyword density of around 3-7% for
your keywords.
-Make
sure EVERY link on your website works. Here's A great
FREE program that performs that task for you- http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html
-Submitting
