Hope
your weekend went well. Last night we got about four
inches of snow and everything looks nice. I'm just glad
I get to walk to work now. Some good info in this issue,
I hope you enjoy it.
Overture
changes their minimum bids.
Basically
the changes are -
1)
New bids will be 10 cents or more - any bid changes
will have the new price.
2) Grandfathered bids - those less than 5 cents will
be increased to 5 cents on March 29th.
3)
Bids you have now from 5-10 cents will remain the same,
unless you change the bid and the minimum will be 10
cents.
I
think what is happening is they are preparing for Yahoo's
new pay per click scheme in which instead of showing
the listings on the top and bottom, they will show more
results along the side of the page, similar to the way
Google does it. On Feb. 4th they were testing it and
showed ten results.
How
does it affect you - if my prediction comes true -
-If
you have bids less than 5 cents at the end of March
it will cost you more.
- If you have lots of competition for your keywords
then a lower bid will get an increase in traffic. I
think generally this will cause a shift downward in
prices... but of course I could be wrong :o).
- Make sure you have a good ad - then you will pay less
for more traffic.
Just
a reminder we have several different pay per click campaigns
we can set up and run for you. You can check them out
at the URL below.

Spreading the word locally

The
net is a big place, but many people forget about marketing
to the folks next door.
1.
Submit a press release to your local media outlets.
Local media will often run stories about you when the
big folks don't.
2.
Contact your local school board / community college
and offer to give a presentation to a class. Make sure
to take some goodies with you and hand them out.
3.
Join (or attend open meetings) the chamber of commerce
in your area... networking with these folks may open
doors that you didn't know existed.
4.
Join (or attend a meeting) of civic organizations.
5.
Sponsor or volunteer for a charity event.
6.
Attend community functions.
7.
Offer a free class at your local library that relates
to your business. Announce the class in your local media
outlets - public service announcments are usually free.
8.
Buy advertising from your local schools - ie their newspapers,
programs, and year books.
9.
Sponsor a fundraiser for your local school.
10.
Network locally.

Five Ways to Make Money With ClickBank
(c) Steve Shaw, 2003
+++++++++++++++++++
ClickBank
not only allows you to accept credit cards on your web
site without the need for a merchant account, it also
provides other ways in which you can generate income
- in this article, I'll highlight five different ways
you can start making money with ClickBank by the end
of today.
1.
Become an affiliate for ClickBank products You can easily
sign up as an affiliate via
http://clickbank.com
and then take a look through the full range of products
in their marketplace for products you'd like to promote,
for example by looking in the appropriate category you
should find products that match up well with your existing
business and that you'll be able to promote to your
mailing list.
To
promote a product, you simply create a hoplink, which
is of the following format:
http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?nickname/merchant
Just
replace 'nickname' with your own ClickBank nickname,
and 'merchant' with the nickname of the merchant. If
you're not sure what the nickname of the merchant is,
you can always go to their sales page and extract it
from their sales link - it's likely to be in the following
format:
http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?Merchant/1/ProductName
where 'Merchant' is the merchant's nickname. Or for
an automatic way to generate hoplinks, try the following
page: http://clickbanktoolkit.com/promoteaproduct.html
2.
Sell your own product through ClickBank
There's
no surer way of making money online than selling your
own product, and with ClickBank you can start doing
this quickly and easily. You can sell up to 50 different
downloadable products through ClickBank with a single
account - and to become a merchant costs less than $50,
rather than the hundreds of dollars it often takes to
set up your own merchant account. And you won't be alone
- thousands of web masters sell through ClickBank including
people like Ben Prater, Joe Vitale and Jim Edwards.
3.
Sign up your own ClickBank affiliates Just by signing
up with ClickBank as a vendor, you can start recruiting
affiliates to sell YOUR product almost immediately -
and if affiliates are receiving commissions from selling
your product, that means YOU are making money. You can
define exactly what level of commission you want your
affiliates to receive - personally I give my affiliates
50% so we're both on an equal footing.
4.
Send ClickBank new clients You can earn cash just by
promoting ClickBank itself, full details are available
at
http://www.clickbank.com/reseller.html
- it's not big bucks, but it's useful as an additional
income stream with commissions ranging between $0.05
and $10.00.
5.
Promote a ClickBank Storefront
ClickBank's
own MarketPlace is fairly limited in terms of functionality,
but various companies offer a 'storefront' for all (or
some) of the products listed in ClickBank's MarketPlace,
and each one of which will have your ClickBank affiliate
nickname attached. The idea is that you promote your
own storefront, and get commissions from people who
visit and go on to purchase products that are listed.
The
most powerful one I've seen is at
http://www.CBGold.com,
but there's a couple others you can view for comparison
at 1stPromotion.com and ClickbankAffiliates.com.

Customer Service how the little guys can win.
Respecting your Customers
+++++++++++++++++++
Treating
your customer with respect seems like a no brainer,
but time and again I find real world examples of folks
not doing it. It could be some people believe that the
internet is impersonal, so why should they bother? Even
though we may never ‘see’ our customers or even know
what they look like, treating them with respect is the
foundation for a long-term profitable relationship.
Here are five tips that should help you out.
O-
From the beginning try to personalize your contacts
with the customer. You (and your customers as well)
are more apt to open an email that begins Dear Tim,
than Dear customer.
O-
Put yourself in their shoes.
O- Put a smile on your face when you chat on the phone
or email them. It is hard to be a grouch when you are
smiling.
O-
Post a reminder to yourself that customers are the lifeblood
of your business. You should treat each customer as
if they are your best customer.
O- If you have a customer that is a real pain (and yes
they are out there). Make it a point to go out of your
way to be nice to them. Why? Sometimes you can turn
thorns into roses.
Next
time- Own up to your mistakes and a step-by-step guide
to getting links to your site. Till then we hope everyone
has a great week.
