Getting your site ready for the holidays.
Search Engine touchups. Ten things to do for improvement.
+++++++++++++++++++
1.
Keywords.
If
you're targetting the wrong keywords for your SEO campaign
then you're shooting yourself in the foot before you
start. We have a SEO tutorial that doesn't cost you
a dime - that explains all the topics more in depth
than this lesson. You can find it here -
http://www.blitzpromotions.com/ses.htm
Using
your keyword research you find the following.
Keyword
- traffic in 24 hours - competition
widget
- 1000 - 1000000
blue widget - 100 - 50000
green widget 125 - 25000
purple widget 75 - 10000
Using
numbers alone you would choose widget - but take a look
at the other keywords - you could get 25% of that traffic
for less than 10% of the effort. I am a firm believer
in trickles make a stream. So what I would do would
be to optimize for the least competitive terms first
and then work on the big ones.
2.
Focusing on the page.
Make
sure that your pages are optimized for 2 or 3 terms
only.
3.
Titles.
These
keywords MUST be in the meta tag title of the page.
Each title should be focused on the keywords for that
page.
4.
H tags.
Make
sure you're page has the keywords near the top of the
page. Highlight these by using an H1 tag. A good article
on using style sheets for your tags can be found at
the link below.

5.
Keyword density.
Make
sure that the keyword density on your pages are at least
as high as your competitors. Average densities will
range from 5 to 10%. The best way to check for sure
though is to do the following:
a)
Search google for your target keywords for the page.
b) Visit the top five sites for those terms. If someone
has more than one page, just use the first page. Save
these urls on notepad.
c) Visit the following URL - cut and paste the url of
each of your competitors (one at a time) and the URL
for the page you're working on. Then hit analyze. To
make life easier you may want email those pages to yourself.

d)
Check out your percentages for the focus keywords and
your page. Record the densities from the competitions
keywords.
e) Take an average of those densities and tweak your
site accordingly.
6.
Your links.
Use focus keywords as links on your site.
Example - instead of having a widget link, have a blue
widget navigation link.
7.
Getting links.
Links help in a number of ways - and it is hard work.
Make a goal for x links a week and go for it. You can
also check out our links tutorial.

We
also have several different link programs available.

8.
Link text.
Put your keywords into the link text you use - when
trading links. This text doesn't have to have your business
name in it. You may want to view the following on the
web since in the email it could be distorted.
http://www.blitzpromotions.com/blitz222.htm
The
best thing to do is create 4 or 5 different options
for the links - then alternate which ones you use.
Ex.
Blue
widget - find blue widgets cheap.
Green widget from the source - a cheaper
green widget can't be found anywhere.
Include
the keyword in the header or link text as well as the
description (or non linked portion of the link).
9.
Adding content.
More pages equals more opportunities to get your site
found. Add content that is related to products or services
you sell, then optimize that page using the steps above
(for the content).
10.
Adjust, Check, Compare, Start again.
After
the changes, wait a couple of months. Check your results.
How did you do? Check your competition. Tune and tweak
and start again.

The Power Of Burning Desire Backed By Unwavering Committment
by John Colanzi
+++++++++++++++++
I'll
bet you've never heard of David Braden. He's not the
type of teenager that makes the national news. It's
sad, but true, that bad news travels the globe before
good news even has it's shoes on. Well hopefully after
reading about David, you'll see the power of setting
a specific goal, followed by unwavering commitment.
You
see young David had a goal, actually more than a goal,
he had what Napoleon Hill calls a burning desire.
What
was David's goal?
This
young man from Goose Creek, South Carolina wanted to
lead the Boston Pop's Orchestra. There was one small
catch. The Boston Pop's required $10,000 before they
would let an amateur conduct their orchestra.
I'm sure that this story would have ended here for the
average daydreamer, but remember David had that burning
desire and was willing to overcome any obstacle to reach
his goal.
What
obstacles are holding you back?
I
know some of the excuses I've had over the years, weren't
as large as the $10,000 fee that stood in David's way.
David decided to make some sacrifices and move full
speed ahead. He not only continued going to school full
time, he worked three jobs after school hours. He gave
up the parties with his friends. He decided he didn't
need the car that most of his peers prized. He was on
a mission and nothing would stand in his way. After
months of working day and night and doing without, David
could only save $5,000.
Was
our young hero finished?
Not
by a long shot! He contacted the Boston Pop's and arranged
to give them $5,000 and the rest of his fee on his word.
The fateful day arrived and proud as a peacock young
David realized his dream of conducting the Boston Pop's
Orchestra.
After
seeing how determined this young man was and the single
minded way in which he pursued his goal, the Orchestra
waived the other half of his fee, and in an unheard
of gesture returned his original $5,000 deposit. So
who is David Braden? He's a young man who can teach
us all the power of burning desire backed by unwavering
commitment. The next time you're tempted to make an
excuse for not reaching your goal, think of David, and
stick in there just a little longer.
Wishing You Success,
John Colanzi
