As you can tell from the
dates this newsletter is about a week late. My Grandfather
passed away and we attended his funeral last week. We
did have an enjoyable time under the circumstances.
He was 88 years old but still cared deeply about the
young people in his community. Probably 25% of the people
that attended the funeral were under 25. He attended
almost every function they had when he was able - sports,
plays, graduations etc. Although there was much sadness
there was also joy in the life he lived and the legacy
he left behind.
We've been spending some
time in our blog speaking about a Google patent application
and some implications it may have on optimizing your
site.

SEO Tuneup Part 1

The first part of any tune
up is to see where you stand now. Create a spreadsheet
and list 25 or 50 of your keywords down one column,
then the major search engines across the top. Skip two
lines between each keywords. Although there is software
to do the actual searches, it is much better to manually
do at least some of them. Why? There are a few reasons
for this.
1) It helps you see who
your competition is.
2) It allows you to see how your site is listed. Say
you're selling bird feeders and your listing looks like
this....
Birdfeeder, bird feeder,
bird feeders - for the title
Birdfeeder, bird feeder, bird feeders.... - for the
description
You may want to change
some things. If you have a number one listing, but not
sales something is wrong.
As you search put the top
two sites for your competition in the blanks. List where
you're found within the engine or a big goose egg if
you aren't listed.
Now take a moment and review
your keywords - is anyone really searching for them.

soup - many people are searching for it, but they are
also searching for related terms:

I bet you will get more sales from that list than those

Marketing is allowing people to giveaway and
use your f.ree product or service in order to multiply
your marketing quickly over the internet. The idea
behind viral marketing is that you include your ad
with the freebie people giveaway or use. Below are
ten high impact viral marketing strategies:

Allow people to reprint your articles on their web
site, in their e-zine, newsletter, magazine or ebooks.
Include your resource box and the option for article
reprints at the bottom of each article.
2.
Allow people to use any of your freebies as f.ree
bonuses for products or services they sell. Include
your ad on all your freebies.
3.
Allow people to use your online discussion board
for their own web site. Some people don't have one.
Just include your banner ad at the top of the board.
4.
Allow people to sign up for a f.ree web site on
your server. Since you are giving away the space,

of the site.
5.
Allow people to add their link to your f.ree web
site directory. Just require that they return a link
back to your web site, advertising your directory.
6.
Allow people to provide your f.ree online service
to their web site, visitors, or e-zine subscribers.
They could be f.ree e-mail, e-mail consulting, search
engine submissions, etc.
7.
Allow people to give away your f.ree software.
Just include your business advertisement inside the
software program.
8.
Allow people to give away your f.ree web design
graphics, fonts, templates, etc. Just include your ad
on them or require people to link directly to your
web site.
9.
Allow people to place an advertisement in your
f.ree ebook if, in exchange, they give away the
ebook to their web visitors or e-zine subscribers.
10.
Allow people to give away your f.ree ebook to
their visitors. Then, their visitors will also give
it
away. This will just continue to spread your ad all
over the internet.
