First thanks for letting us show you how to build a website on the WWW for free. We think the web is the wave of the future and we want you to be on top of it. In this lesson we will cover the following points:

1. About Us.

2. About this course.

3. What a website can do for you.

4. What a website won't do.

During this course we will try not to use terms that anyone is not familiar with or we will try to help you learn them. We are still learning too and as we learn we will continue to update this website to reflect these new lessons. We aren't English majors either, so if you find a mistake you can't live with then please tell us and we will update it. About Us

I have been goofing off with computers for about as long as I can remember. I don't know how many of you remember the Commodore 64 but I played with that a lot. My favorite game is still MULE and I really wish I had a copy that would work on my computer now. Anyway about a year ago I became addicted to the internet. Think about it, the internet is always ON....people can come and visit your website when you are asleep, on vacation, at your other job....oops, I'm starting to get ahead of myself. Anyway it didn't take me long to figure out that 1) the internet was great and 2) I needed a website. I was really clueless at first on how to do anything on the web, but I dug in and learned. Hopefully I can warn you of some of the mistakes that I made and make it EASY for you to get up and running. Something else I learned was that the web has a wide range of prices for the same thing.....some people charge hundreds of dollars for things that others offer for FREE! In fact many times I have paid big bucks for something, to discover it for FREE the very next day. Now we have three websites. My wife thought I was crazy at first, until she decided that she wanted one of her own. Something funny, her website gets a lot more hits than mine, but mine makes money :-)....Why not take a moment and visit these sites to get to know us.

About this course

This course will take you step by step thru the website process. We also have links to other sites that we think will help you in your journey to your dreams. If there is anything that you don't understand please let us know so that we can change and/or adjust it to make it easier to understand. Each week for the next seven weeks you will get an email message from us that will list the URL to go for the next course. Each of the lessons contains things for you this week (I hate to call it homework.....since it is a lot different than homework. Have you ever gotten paid for homework? Me either.). If you follow all the steps listed then by the end of the seven weeks, you should have:

1. A website on the web.

2. You should be making some money with it.

3. You will know a lot more than you did at the beginning.

Why have a Website?

So what's the big deal with having a website. We have listed only some of the benefits below. There are tons of them.

1. The website can be additional advertising for your off-line product. You can have your website address (or URL) in a tv or radio ad (that lasts 30 seconds) and they will come and look at your ad for a minutes and if it is a good site, then longer.This website can also answer any of the commonly asked questions people may have about your product. Don't believe me? Think of a product you saw on tv. If you remember their web addy then check it out.

2. The web works all the time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is like a salesman that never gets tired. The only thing you have to pay is your charge to connect to the internet.

3. E-mail is one of the most cost efficient ways that you can find to follow-up with your customer. Actually this course is coming to you by one of the best follow up methods that I have found on the net. Check them out here.

What a website won't do.

1. A website won't change it's content by itself...you still have to update your site.

2. Something to remember now, write it down. The internet sometimes makes you think that you are by yourself, in a vacuum. Guess what? You aren't, your actions will reflect on you and your website. If you treat people bad, then they will treat you bad and tell their friends. Guess what.....no visitors=no money, and no fun.

3. Make you rich overnight. Your goal should be to take it slow. Have a realistic goal. You have to reinvest half of the money you make (at least) in promoting your website, but we will talk more on that later. You will HAVE to work at it. The more you work at it, the better it will be.
